swing states in next month's presidential election. a pennsylvania judge today blocked a tough and controversial new law that would require voters to show valid photo identification. the republican-led state legislature passed the law in march. supporters claim it would prevent fraud and insure that only those who are legally eligible to vote would be able to cast a ballot. opponents argued the law unfairly targeted minorities and the elderly and intended to keep them home on election day. according to the average of all pennsylvania polls, president obama has a sizable lead. democrats have fought the law furiously because in the past lower town out has benefited republicans in pennsylvania. the state acknowledged in court that there has never been a case of in person voter fraud in pennsylvania. now like for us in new york city with more on that. what will happen come election day? >>reporter: trace, believe it or not on election day poll workers will ask for your photo i.d. in pennsylvania but voters do not have to show up. the judge simpson led the law stay in place ruling it is
